Religious education guidance in English schools 2010 DCSF
Non-statutory guidance for RE in English schools, published January 2010. This guidance replaces Circular 1/94 with regard to guidance on RE. Pages 26 – 30 are of particular relevance to schools. NATRE is pleased to be able to endorse the new RE Guidance from the DCSF, replacing the Religious Education elements of circular 1/94, which we believe will be helpful to teachers, schools, governors, SACREs and anyone who has a role in planning and teaching RE. The new Guidance will support those working to enrich the learning experience for young people in our schools and encourage spiritual, moral, social and cultural development. It reflects an emphasis on the diversity of beliefs to be studied within a broad and balanced curriculum, while allowing opportunities for the personal development and wellbeing of young people.
